Blazing Moon
by George Knox

Oh Blazing moon
slayer of darkness
can you dare weave a magic
that I may witness
my endless love.

Let your light create graceful silhouettee
clipsing all nature can conceive
and cast her shadow of loveliness
across my existence,
exalting my heart
with a love that ignites
the stars.

Oh blazing moon
slayer of darkness,
grant me your light
for I must surely dwell in her shadow
than remain in this world
without her.

Keep Watching
by Stacey Y. Barlow

Take heed to yourselves
your hearts be overcharged
for we know not the hour He will come
Praying always with prayer and supplication
Then we’ll know that the victory is won
because

You’ve got to keep watching
He cares for you
Almighty God You’ve got to keep watching
Peace be unto you.

All that we know
He’s waiting with His arms open wide
To Him you can go
You’ll find that you are His own.

He’s coming back for His children
so be prepared to go home
I’m going home—
home, I can’t wait.
Home, home,
Keep watching
Home, home
He’s caring for you
Home, home
Almighty God
Keep watching.

Confusion
by Kerra Trusty

Confusion and stress creates a mess
Headaches and migraines absorb what's left
Left of human sanity; in an instance things
change
Everything becomes rearranged
Derranged -- chaeos consumes the day
Evidence of normality is concealed through
variety
Life with no spice is better yet sour
However, it is through these motions when
survival is at its essence
Not revealed in a present, but requires
your immediate attention and unwrapping
processes of life -- the outcome is solely
determined by the receiver

DEAR GOD . . .
By Brenda Lynne Fisher
Onlythetruth20@aol.com

You are my world.
A world of laughter, love and caring.
A world of happiness and friendship.
A world that's complete with you by my side.

You are my staff.
The staff of hope I can lean on.
The staff of understanding that comforts me.
The staff of eternity for you are always with me.

You are my soul.
The soul to spiritually lift me.
A soul of warmth and forever giving.
A soul of love and faith that keeps me strong.
Fisher has been writing since high school, with six poems and a short story published in several literary publications. She is working on a children's book and pursing educational development in her writing craft. "Dear God" first appeared on this site (c) July 2003.

Homeless man on your couch
by Kratrina Richardson

"I'm in a relationship with a man I think is savvy."
But are you in love and does he really make you happy?

Yeah he's tall, dark and handsome with his cornrows and thug appeal,
But he's pathetic and shiftless, unemployed and can't help pay the bills.

Lying on the couch all day doing nothing but watching the TV.
When he should be job hunting, instead of hogging the remote and being lazy.

Sleeping all day and staying out late, hanging with his friends and forgetting your needs.
Only spending time with you at night when he wants to do the deed.

Driving your car, not buying and gas, you're paying for all the repairs,
When he's the one cruising the streets with his friends pretending it's theirs.

Your phone rings with female voices on the other end asking for your man by name,
While he lies about who they are with a smirk like it's all a game.

You're working two jobs everyday trying to take care of you and keep clothes on his back.
Coming home to a dirty house, cooking his food and trying to keep everything in tact.

Is being alone so bad that you would have any man, no better yet a slouch?
Do you need someone in your life that much, that you would settle for the homeless man on your couch?

Kratrina is an educator and poet in Dallas, Texas. She is a proud graduate of Paul Quinn College where she majored in English and is a member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. "Writing is an avenue for self-expressing that heals your spirit and rejuvenates your mind." (c) Sept. 2003
