| For Immediate Release The Eye of the Tornado: Fifty Poems for Rhyme and Reason "A great new book of verse from a refreshing new voice" Years of trials and triumphs have culminated into one thought-provoking and praised poetic memoir, The Eye of the Tornado, fifty poems for rhyme and reason. Poet Michelle Pinkard uses the tornado as a metaphor for life to address spiritual, sociopolitical, and relationship themes. Recently signed by La Caille Nous Publishing, Co., Inc., Tornado was recently released. "It is a miraculous thing to watch a prayer turn into a blessing, to see a dream realized," Michelle Pinkard said. "Poetry is my passion, my inspiration, my breakfast and my late night snack. My hope is to inspire self and social revelation and revolution through my work. I want the reader to be able to find, lose and find themselves again in my poetry." Michelle J. Pinkard's work has been seen in literary publications across the country, including: Elements Magazine, Poetry Motel, Ya'Sou! A Celebration of Life, Love's Chance Magazine and Struggle.. An essay Pinkard wrote, "The Warden," was selected for publish within an anthology called Aunties; not just another mother, produced by Ballantine Books and Essence Magazine. She is best known for her award-winning work as a journalist and columnist at The Times of Shreveport in Louisiana. As a military reporter there, she has covered overseas assignments and the on-going fight against terrorism. She is currently working on a memoir project and her second volume of poetry. "Ms. Pinkard's poetry is a nice balance between what we see and what we say," said James Washington, publisher of The Dallas Weekly. "The result is a great new book of verse from a refreshing new voice. When we can balance what we see with what we say, life breaks out in a whole new way. Her poems are worth reading because some of us have lived them. Ms. Pinkard reminds us that real living makes or should make poets of us all."
